A new year, a natural new beginning.
A few years ago I read a comparison regarding the journals of young women at the start of a new year and how in decades past the focus was on how to improve character and now the trend is how to enhance the exterior. Admittedly I've fallen into this trap a time or two.
While I have some goals for my physical self, and my writing, my priority is seeing how the LORD is fulfilling His promise to perfect in me the good work which He has begun (Phil. 1:6), my sanctification, personal holiness.
After all, "bodily discipline is only of a little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come." 1 Timothy 4:8
So, my hope for this year is to stand firm on my commitments and be reliable:
"But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath, but your yes is to be yes and your no, no, so you may not fall into judgment."
James 5:12
